Playback versteht sich als Alternative bzw. Ergänzung zum ewig gleichen Oldie-Repertoire der „Best Of“- und „Greatest Hits“-Schubladen. Die Sendung erinnert auch an vergessene Bands und Songs der Rock- und Pophistory, zeigt Entwicklungen auf und stellt Bezüge zur gegenwärtigen Musik her. Denn die „Playbacker“ wollen durchaus nicht nur als „alte Säcke“ von der „guten alten Zeit“ erzählen.
Dabei ist Playback weder elitär, noch gibt es musikalische Tabus: Von Abba bis Z.Z. Top, von Nick Cave bis Zappa, von Funk bis Punk und Reggae bis Rock wird das musikalische Universum durchstreift.

Am 18. Oktober findet ab 15 Uhr im Lokpark in Braunscheweig ein Tributekonezert für Peter Loris, dem leider viel zu früh verstobenen Macher hinter Barnabys Blues Bar, statt. Aus diesem Anlass gibt es in der heutigen Playback-Sendung eine Wiederholung der Sendung vom 5.Juli 2025.
Florian Damm begrüßte Freunde und Weggefährten von Peter Loris und schaute auf dessen musikalisches Lebenswek zurück. Genau die richtige Einstimmung um danach einen sicherlich denkwürdigen Abend im Lokpark im Andenken an Peter zu verbringen.
